🧰 Recommended Equipment
This page highlights categories of equipment that we use or consider suitable for a small, well-engineered Bitcoin mining setup. It is not an exhaustive list or a guarantee of profitability, but a practical starting point for people who want to build safe, disciplined, and realistic mining infrastructure.
Over time, we may include affiliate links to some products we personally use or trust. If we do, those links will be clearly disclosed. Our goal is to recommend equipment that supports safe electrical design, stable networking, and effective cooling—not shortcuts or hype.
⛏️ ASIC Miners
The ASIC miner is the heart of any Bitcoin mining operation. We currently operate Canaan Avalon Q-series units and focus on miners that balance efficiency, stability, and support.
Canaan Avalon Q-Series
The family of ASIC miners we run in our own operation. When selecting a miner, we look at hash rate, power draw, noise, and reliability—not just advertised profitability.

Reputable Suppliers
Purchasing from reputable ASIC vendors with clear warranty and return policies is essential. Cheap, unknown sources can lead to dead hardware, no support, and unnecessary risk.

Do the Math First
Before buying an ASIC, always calculate expected power costs, network difficulty trends, and heat/noise implications for your space. Hardware is only one part of the equation.
❄️ Airflow & Cooling
Effective cooling is critical for safe and stable mining. Excess heat shortens hardware life and can make a space uncomfortable or unsafe. We use a combination of inline fans, insulated ducting, and miner shrouds to carefully control airflow.
High-CFM Inline Fans
Quiet, high-CFM inline fans are the backbone of any ducted cooling system. We favor models designed for continuous operation and variable speed control.

Insulated Flex Duct
Insulated 8-inch flex duct helps keep heat moving away from the mining area while minimizing noise and heat bleed into adjacent spaces.

Exhaust Shrouds
Shrouds that connect directly to a miner’s exhaust fans allow for clean, predictable airflow into ducting, reducing recirculation and hot spots.

🔌 Power & Electrical
Electrical safety is non-negotiable. The goal is to operate ASIC miners within the safe limits of properly rated circuits, breakers, and wiring, with clear visibility into power draw.
Power Usage Meters
Plug-in power meters (watt meters) make it easy to verify exactly how much power each miner and circuit is drawing in real-world conditions.

Surge Protectors / PDUs
Appropriately rated surge protectors or PDUs help protect equipment from voltage spikes and make cable management easier.

Smart Plugs / Relays
Smart plugs or networked power devices can allow safe, remote power cycling when used within rated limits and with proper safeguards.

Always consult a qualified electrician before modifying or loading your home electrical system.
🌐 Networking
A clean, segmented network makes miner management easier and reduces the risk of conflicts with other devices on your home or office network.
VLAN-Capable Routers
Routers or gateways that support VLANs make it easier to isolate miners into their own “Miners Network,” improving visibility and security.

Managed Switches
Managed switches allow you to assign ports to VLANs, monitor link status, and keep miner traffic separate from other devices.

Ethernet Cabling
Standard Cat5e or Cat6 cabling is more than sufficient for miner connectivity. The focus is on reliability, not extreme bandwidth.

🛠️ Tools & Instruments
A few simple tools make it much easier to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot a home or small-scale mining environment.
IR Thermometers
IR thermometers are useful for spot-checking exhaust temps, intake temps, and identifying hot spots in your setup.

Decibel Meters
For indoor mining especially, decibel meters help quantify noise and evaluate the effectiveness of enclosures or sound dampening.

Basic Tool Kits
Screwdrivers, zip ties, Velcro straps, labels, and basic hardware go a long way toward building a safe, clean, and maintainable environment.

📌 Future Affiliate Links & Transparency
In the future, we may add affiliate links to some of the equipment categories listed on this page. If we do, those links will be clearly disclosed and will not affect the price you pay. Any such links would be intended to offset operational costs and support continued improvements to our infrastructure and educational efforts.
We will only ever recommend categories of equipment that we use ourselves or genuinely consider appropriate for a small, well-engineered mining operation. Our priority is safety, reliability, and long-term thinking—not quick sales.
